TREASURER TRUSTEE FOR BLACKBURN YOUTH ZONE

A unique and exciting opportunity to be part of a project that aims to improve the life chances of young people in Blackburn with Darwen.

Blackburn Youth Zone aims to support thousands of local young people to reach their full potential by giving them ‘somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to’.  The charity is part of a Network of 13 OnSide Youth Zones across the country, offering affordable, inclusive access to a broad range of high-quality positive activities including; sports, arts, employability and, personal and social development, for 8-19 year olds and up to 21 for young people with additional needs.

We would love to hear from people who are passionate about supporting and developing opportunities for young people. You will be dynamic, motivated, and able to actively contribute your time and expertise for the benefit of the charity, through the role of Trustee. 

We are particularly looking for an individual with expertise, knowledge and the willingness to take on the role of Treasurer. You will ideally have knowledge of charity accounts and accountancy/financial director experience. 

The Trustee Board currently meets every two months; trustees are not paid and will be required to undergo a vetting process including an enhanced DBS check.

Main Purpose:

To take overall responsibility of all financial, admin and HR functions within Blackburn Youth Zone. To provide leadership and management of the finance function of Blackburn Youth Zone, ensuring effective strategic and operational financial planning and monitoring and reporting on the financial performance to enhance the decision-making process of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Board of Directors. Responsible for strategic performance monitoring using a balanced scorecard/KPI framework. Responsible for overall resource planning to ensure resources are utilised in the most efficient manner.

The Business Administration Manager is central to the success of Blackburn Youth Zone as we embark on our ambitious plans for growth and development. Working alongside the CEO and the Leadership Team and Managers, you will provide a key role in ensuring an efficient, effective, robust “back office” support service and robust HR systems enabling the wider team to focus on providing the very best opportunities for the young people who engage with the charity each year.

YOUTH SAFE WORKER

Job Role:

Youth Safe Worker

Accountable to:

Safeguarding Manager

Accountable for:

Delivery of Youth Safe work; Targeted sessions: 1:1 support.

£24,500

Fixed 12 months contract.

Main Purpose:

To deliver and develop a quality ‘Youth Safe’ programme within our open access Youth Club, which invites young people 8 to 21 years old to engage in a wide array of enriching activities and opportunities. You will respond effectively to any safeguarding and welfare concerns, taking immediate action to best safeguard and protect young people and complete all required records (accurately and timely) as specified in the clubs Safeguarding and Child Protection policy. You will be required to respond effectively to behaviour incidents within the club and deliver informal sessions which are a direct response to young people’s needs. You will be required to deliver intervention projects for vulnerable and ‘at risk’ young people.

MARKETING COORDINATOR

Main Purpose:

The Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for generating brand awareness of Blackburn Youth Zone and supporting business development and youth service promotion. The Marketing Coordinator will take ownership and oversight on a day-to-day content creation (narrative, photos, infographics and videos) aligned to a more strategic approach. Promoting Blackburn Youth Zone to key local, regional and national audiences, maximising opportunities to raise our profile and increase our reach. Managing all platforms and channels, will provide an opportunity to explore ways to increase brand awareness through an engaged community and measure impact. Ensuring all forms of communication are connected and align with core messages and brand values.

VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT COORDINATOR

Main Purpose:

The Volunteer recruitment coordinator will hold overall responsibility for the volunteer strategy, and management of all volunteers, to recruit and support a pool of volunteers to work alongside qualified staff across the different sections of the Youth Zone and on other projects. The role will be split (equally at 2.5 days per week) across two Youth Zones at Inspire Chorley and Blackburn where you work towards KPI’s across the two orgs, share good practices, and standardise the working and plans associated with volunteering. 

 

They will support the Youth Voice Coordinator to develop and deliver CPD and training for volunteers and staff to enable the delivery of quality youth sessions in line with operating principles and recognised youth work values and competencies.
