TREASURER TRUSTEE FOR BLACKBURN YOUTH ZONE
A unique and exciting opportunity to be part of a project that aims to improve the life chances of young people in Blackburn with Darwen.
Blackburn Youth Zone aims to support thousands of local young people to reach their full potential by giving them ‘somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to’. The charity is part of a Network of 13 OnSide Youth Zones across the country, offering affordable, inclusive access to a broad range of high-quality positive activities including; sports, arts, employability and, personal and social development, for 8-19 year olds and up to 21 for young people with additional needs.
We would love to hear from people who are passionate about supporting and developing opportunities for young people. You will be dynamic, motivated, and able to actively contribute your time and expertise for the benefit of the charity, through the role of Trustee.
We are particularly looking for an individual with expertise, knowledge and the willingness to take on the role of Treasurer. You will ideally have knowledge of charity accounts and accountancy/financial director experience.
The Trustee Board currently meets every two months; trustees are not paid and will be required to undergo a vetting process including an enhanced DBS check.

Main Purpose:
To develop and deliver an exciting sports programme of activities which will engage young people aged 8 – 19 years old and those up to 25 years old with Special education needs and disabilities (SEND) at Unitas Youth Zone. To provide direct line management support, coaching and development for sessional Sports workers and volunteers. To ensure young people receive a high-quality service. To have the lead responsibility and oversight of the climbing wall, boxing gym, fitness suite, sports hall and 3G pitch. To utilise sport in the wider youth work agenda supporting and encouraging young people to express themselves, explore issues and facilitate personal development.

Main Purpose:
The supervision and support of children aged 5-12 years old at Blackburn Youth Zone. To
provide a safe, creative and appropriate play, sport and STEM opportunities for children
including preparing and delivering activities, through both individual and group activities in a
nurturing and caring environment ensuring that all young people are safe and happy.
You will work directly with children and young people to develop their social skills and build
their confidence by delivering a planned, high-quality programme of activity that is creative,
safe, innovative, and developmental and directly responds to the diverse needs, concerns and
interests of our members. Successful candidates for this role will be enthusiastic, committed

Main Purpose:
The role will work with the Universal Service Manager and Operational Leadership Team to develop the wide range of universal play, youth and sport provision, focussing on working with young people aged 5 to 21. The role will require a well-organised individual to lead the delivery team in ensuring a quality offer across 7 days in Darwen. Manage our hub and spoke model, coordinating the bespoke centres and partner agency offer.
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, qualified professional with significant experience of managing excellent universal and bespoke programmes for large numbers of children and young people. You will hold line management responsibility seeking to ensure that there is strong evidence of effective performance in line with our vision, mission, and value. The role will require you to have previous experience within a youth work setting and strong evidence of excellent safeguarding knowledge and practice.
You will lead, support and develop our Darwen universal team to identify and cultivate existing and new programmes of activity for young people across multi areas of Darwen. You will introduce continual improvements and ensure best practice in all service delivery whilst managing and achieving in line with KPIs, which may include, but are not limited to, attendance, outcomes and service impact, retention, partnerships and reputation.

You must have a passion for community fundraising, and a commitment to supporting young people. Using your skills, you will develop and deliver our community and corporate fundraising programme. You will focus on growing income from SME’s, third party events, community groups, schools, and individual giving fundraising streams. You will be excellent at building relationships, have experience in digital fundraising, be creative in your approach and be excited by the opportunity to manage several fundraising programmes at the same time. You will be a self-motivated individual, able to work independently and also well in a team.
