Big hearted shoppers from across the county have helped The Mall Blackburn raise £2,348 for a local charity as part of the shopping centre’s Mall Cares campaign.
Blackburn Youth Zone, which is The Mall’s nominated charity, will use the funds to further improve opportunities for young people across Blackburn with Darwen.
The money was raised though donations from the public at various events throughout 2012 including collections, face painting and the popular Santa’s Grotto.
Samantha Butcher, The Mall Blackburn’s Marketing Manager, said: “We are delighted to be presenting Blackburn Youth Zone with this money so they can continue their excellent work in the area.
“Our Mall Cares campaign focuses on a specific local charity each year and allows us to help to improve the lives of people in the community.
“We held various events throughout 2012 to raise money for the Youth Zone and, after confirming Blackburn Youth Zone as our nominated charity for this year, we are currently planning many more to ensure we can continue to support this extremely worthy cause.”
Julia Wright, Head of Business Development at Blackburn Youth Zone, said: “It’s terrific to have the continued support from The Mall Blackburn and we’d like to thank all staff and customers who contributed to their fantastic fundraising efforts.
“We’ll be putting the money to excellent use right away, providing a safe and exciting space for young people to spend their spare time and take part in a wide range of activities.
“We rely on contributions so this very big donation from The Mall is very much appreciated.”
