The Challenge ‘challengers’ were back at our offices this weekend, this time charged with the not entirely un-daunting task of painting the Blackburn Youth Zone offices.
About The Challenge
The Charity – the governments’ National Citizenship Service programme – brings together young people from diverse backgrounds and empowers them to support their local community. Starting soon after they finish their G.C.S.E. year, The Challenge offers a combination of mentoring, a comprehensive community support project and personal development project. Playing out over three weeks – the first two weeks are dedicated to personal and group challenges – offering anything from mountain climbing expeditions to new media workshops. The third week focuses on community support, with challengers helping out a charity in various ways. Bringing us to the Big Painting Challenge…
Blackburn Youth Zone played host to over forty Challengers this Saturday, after their kind offer to help us paint the offices. A thoroughly professional job saw the young people sand and polyfill the walls, sugar soap the surfaces, apply a number of coats of paint…all in less than one day! Despite the burning Indian Summer heat, the young people involved put up a valiant effort – leaving us with a beautifully painted office. A huge ‘thank you!’ to all who came and helped!
