Blackburn Rovers FC and Northcote team up with Blackburn Youth Zone to host Blackburn’s event of the year.
A luxury football event is set to be held at Blackburn Rover’s iconic Ewood Park on 12th May. Comprising a football tournament and an evening celebration – The Big Kick gives participants the full professional footballing experience – with all proceeds going towards Blackburn Youth Zone.
The Big Kick allows players the chance to use all of the Premiership club’s facilities – normally reserved for the professionals – and an opportunity to demonstrate their footballing skills on the famous pitch whilst raising money for charity.
Teams will be given a dedicated professional football coach, a bespoke football kit which is theirs’ to keep, use of the players’ facilities, guaranteed playing time on the Rover’s pitch and as many guest spectators as they can bring . The tournament will be filmed, capturing every goal in every game.
The charity is looking for 12 teams to compete in the tournament which will be split into two groups of six teams. The winners of each group will play in the final.
The day concludes with an evening celebration at the famous ‘Northcote at the Rovers’. Northcote Managing Director Craig Bancroft believes The Big Kick is uniquely authentic, describing The Big Kick as “a showcase football event that is a must for all to be involved in”.
A ‘Once-In-A-Lifetime’ Opportunity
Current Rovers player and Blackburn Youth Zone champion David Dunn urges would-be participants to sample ‘The Big Kick’. “Playing on Blackburn Rovers’ historic ground, the same pitch Rovers’ legends have played some of their finest moments on, never gets any less exhilarating.” The Big Kick spokesperson Alan Shearer is excited to offer others the same experiences he fondly remembers. “Some of my greatest footballing memories have been scoring goals at Ewood Park. The Big Kick offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for others to experience that same incredible feeling.”
Each player in a squad of 15 is required to raise £200 in sponsorship. The Big Kick organisers Blackburn Rovers FC and partners Northcote at the Rovers are hoping to raise in the region of £45,000 for The Youth Zone.
Costs of the event will be covered by a small number of key sponsors, ensuring that 100% of the money raised by the participating teams will go straight to The Youth Zone.
