Two enterprising Senior Club members have developed a 12 week health and wellbeing programme for female members.
Charli, 13, and Holly, 14 together with Zone Youth Worker Sal, recognised the need for a girls only activity and set about establishing an group of girls to take part and a programme of sessions looking at various aspects of health and wellbeing including tips on looking after your skin and dressing well to build confidence.
At the end of the 12 weeks, the the group will host a fashion show event, Gok Wan style to showcase the tips and tricks they have learnt.
Charli said: “We wanted something special for girls only to take part in. We like Gok Wan and he inspired us to work with Sal to create an activity programme just for us girls to help develop our confidence.”
Holly, added: “We’re looking forward to making more friends in the Zone and working on activities that interest us, helping us to develop our confidence and speak up about things more.”
Carolyn Riley, Senior Club manager praised Charli and Holly in using their initiative: “I am very much impressed by Charli and Holly’s and their desire to create a programme designed with fellow members in mind. They have developed ‘ground rules’ by which every one who takes part in the sessions must agree too and have put much thought and effort into the programme. It is great to see them working with us to channel their energies into something positive that they enjoy.”
