A group of junior members recently went on a residential to the Lake District to develop a new project.
The young people had been hand picked by junior club staff for displaying strong leadership skills and they were brought together to think about how they can design, build and implement a junior young leaders programme, similar to the seniors young leaders scheme.
Young Leaders is the Zone’s project that enables senior members to develop basic youth work and leadership skills, ultimately becoming positive role models for the Zone and to work towards developing and delivering projects within the youth club setting.
The aim of developing a junior young leaders is that the group will become positive role models for fellow members and represent the members by being the ‘voice’ of junior club.
Dave Palmer, Junior Club Manager, said: “Our junior members are the future of the Zone and it is important that we continue to listen to their views in how we shape our delivery activities. The development of the junior young leader scheme is just one way in which the Zone empowers young people to shape a positive future.”
