Eight young people from the Zone recently took to the slopes of the Chill Factore in Manchester as part of the Zone’s Young Leaders scheme.
Young Leaders is the Zone’s project that enables Senior members to develop basic youth work and leadership skills, ultimately becoming positive role models for the Zone and to work towards developing and delivering projects within the youth club setting.
The trip, comprising of a two hour skiing lesson and a one hour luging session, offered current young leaders the chance to encourage the new recruits to the scheme and share their experiences of how rewarding taking part in the Young Leaders can be.
Leigh Culverwell, Participation and Development Manager said: “The trip was great and enabled established young leaders to build relationships with new recruits to the scheme. The Zone is expanding the Young Leaders programme encourage young people to be positive role models and give them something to work towards while at youth club, we’re finding that young people who sign up to become a young leader are excitied about having the extra responsiblity and how their involvement makes difference.”
